Wheeler County District Attorney

Quick Search:

The Wheeler County District Attorney is Daniel Ousley.  Mr. Ousley was appointed in August, 2008, by Governor Ted Kulongoski to fill a vacancy in the position, then ran for the office and was elected to a four-year term beginning in January, 2009.  There are no deputies in the DA’s Office.

Kathy Horn is the District Attorney Assistant.  She and her husband moved to Wheeler County in 2007, and Kathy has handled the duties of the DA’s Office since that time.

The District Attorney prosecutes cases in three courts – Oregon State Circuit Court, Fossil Justice Court, and Mitchell Justice Court.  The variety of cases fills the spectrum of criminal law but in smaller numbers than in more populated counties.  In the fall and early winter, most cases involve hunting offenses.

The Office also handles cases in Juvenile Court, conducts meetings for the Multi-Disciplinary Team on Child Abuse, assists and advises the employees of the Sheriff’s Office, works with the Oregon State Police in the region of North Central Oregon, and is active on committees and projects in the entire community of Wheeler County.

Questions and comments are always welcome in the DA’s Office in the Courthouse.  Hours are 8 am to 5 pm (closed for lunch), Monday to Friday.  Dan and Kathy have an open-door policy at all times, so please call the office or stop in anytime.
