Wheeler County’s Emergency Management Program is responsible for planning and coordination for phases of disaster management by implementing preparedness, response, mitigation and recovery plans.
Wheeler County’s Emergency Operations Plan is NIMS compliant and promulgated.

Wheeler County’s Emergency Operations Plan, providing a coordinated and effective response to emergencies and disasters. The EOP explains the local emergency response concept, emergency response structure and the roles and responsibilities of departments and agencies responding to emergencies and disasters.
Implementation of policies and procedures
Assisting with preparation, review and enhancement of emergency preparedness programs, training exercises and resource development for cities, schools, agencies and the private sector.
Assists with major emergencies and disasters through coordination of the disaster response process, including the coordination of local, state, federal and non-governmental agency resources.
